WORTHINGTON -- Katherin Ihnen became the all-time leading rebounder at Minnesota West Community and Technical College Wednesday night, and the Jays women's and men's basketball teams used impressive second halves to down Ridgewater.

The Lady Jays broke free from a slim 32-30 lead in the first game of the evening at the Center for Health and Wellness to beat the Warriors 77-52. The men followed with an 82-60 win, outscoring their counterparts 49-22 in the second half after trailing 38-33 at intermission.

The West women are 20-4 overall and 11-0 in the Southern Division. The men are 16-8 and 8-3.

In an earlier game this season, Ihnen -- a 5-11 sophomore post from Round Lake -- set the school's single-game scoring record with 48 points. With 1:28 remaining in the third quarter Wednesday, she added the career rebounding total to her list of accomplishments.

She finished with 10 rebounds and a game-high 25 points.

"It's an unbelievable feeling. It kind of feels like a dream," Ihnen said about the rebounding record after the game. "I realized I was close, but I didn't realize I was that close."

"Well deserving," said her coach, Rosalie Hayenga-Hostikka. "She just outworks everybody. I don't know how you teach it, she just has a knack at where the ball's going to go."

As a team, Minnesota West relied on the 3-point shooting of sophomore guard Emily Haubrich to stay in front of Ridgewater in the first half. Haubrich, who finished with 19 points, connected on three 3-pointers in the first quarter and another in the second.

The Lady Jays came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 21-5 in the third quarter.

"I think we just came out in that third quarter and did a nice job," said Hayenga-Hostikka.

For the game, West out-rebounded Ridgewater 59-39. Andrea Hinkeldey had 12 rebounds to go along with 10 points.

The Jays also finished with an impressive 20 assists. M'Kayla Mike had five of them and Haubrich had four. Mike also had five steals while teammate Avery Van Roekel had four.

Mariah Adams scored 16 points for Ridgewater, which fell to 10-10 with the loss.

But the game mostly belonged to Ihnen.

""I think it's lower body strength. And just positioning. Getting the girl behind me and not in front of me. And also reading it off the shooter's hand," she said, explaining her knack for pulling in missed shots. "Rebounding is my favorite thing. So over the years it's started to become a natural habit."
