Cornell Washington, a MnWest freshman defensive back from Harvey, Illinois, has been named the MCAC Player-of-the-Week on defense in the Western Division.
Washington had three interceptions on the day against the Ironmen, including one returned 38 yards for a touchdown. He also added a tackle for the BlueJays, as they prevailed 41-8 over Vermilion Community College.
MnWest and Washington will travel to Northland CTC for a 1:30pm kickoff on Sunday, October 28 in the first round of the MCAC Football playoffs.

Caleb Tinklenberg continued his double-duty for Minnesota West CTC this past week, lining up at quarterback while also handling the kicking duties for the BlueJays.
Tinklenberg was five-of-six on PAT's for Minnesota West and hit three kickoffs for a total of 188 yards and one touchback. He averaged 62.7 yards a kickoff, while also going 17-of-38 passing for 227 yards and a score.
Minnesota West and Tinlenberg will travel to Northland CTC for a 1:30pm kickoff on Sunday, October 28 in the first round of the MCAC Football playoffs.
Notable Performances in the Western Division:
MnWest running backs Darrick Gardner and Khaileb Desmond combined for 117 yards on the ground for the BlueJays while Reginald Colson III had four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. Colson also had a 26 yard kickoff return while teammate Montrez Hearon turned in a 47 return effort of his own. Beau Priegnitz led the Minnesota West defensive unit with nine tackles.
